Recently opened - a wonderfully indulgent chalet in Morzine !

Perhaps Morzine’s best asset is its location at the very heart of the huge Portes du Soleil ski area,  just one hour from Geneva airport. The lodge offers quick access to the pistes of both Morzine and Les Gets, and on to Avoriaz.  The neighbouring resort of Avoriaz at 1800m has experienced the highest snow depth in Europe for 11 winters in a row and it is said that if there’s no snow in Avoriaz, there is no snow in the Alps!

The chalet is owner managed and Andrew and Nancy spent years perfecting their plans for the ultimate luxury ski lodge. From deep pocket spring beds which provide the ultimate comfort after a hard day on the slopes to a heated boot room with boot warmers. Experts on both the local ski area and the wilder Portes du Soleil, they are more than happy to suggest routes and adventures and of course those all important great lunch and apres stops!

The chef will tailor every menu to the tastes of your group using only the best locally sourced ingredients washed down with specially selected wines.

The chalet accommodates up to 12 guests and G&T clients are offered complimentary return transfers from Geneva.

Patagonia at its best

Patagonia is a wonder of the world. It is impossible to choose just one highlight and a journey here needs careful planning. The snow capped mountains of The Andes form the back drop to every journey as they continue south through Patagonia until they transform into two great ice fields in the south where you find the Perito Mereno glacier.

You will be struck by the space and scenery and the total contrast of landscapes from the glaciers and its wildlife in the south to the lush green foothills and lakes of the Lake District further north.

Patagonia will appeal to those who enjoy the great outdoors.  There is so much to do to enjoy this region from walking and trekking, riding and herding cattle on one of the large ranches, exceptional fly fishing and bird watching as well as skiing at the small town resort, Saint Juan de los Andes.

There are a number of private estancias opening their doors, offering accommodation to enjoy Argentine lifestyle, hospitality and culture. Arroyo Verde is one our favourites, run by three generations of the Laviere family.

Argentina is easy to reach with a direct overnight flight to Buenos Aires. We recommend you spend a couple of days in this exciting and vibrant city before heading south.

If you are interested in travelling to Argentina, contact us at Goodacre & Townsend on 0207 434 2255 to discuss your ideas and we will build the perfect seamless itinerary tailored to your dream.

Best months to go November to April.

New Four Seasons hotel opens in St Petersburg

The first thing I always notice when I enter a Russian church is the smell-it reminds me of Christmas with its heady scent of burning votive candles, lit to offer a prayer. Russia has seen a resurgence of the Orthodox church since Perestroika in the early 1990s and this is evident in the opulence of the numerous churches and cathedrals in St Petersburg. When you bear in mind the turbulent past of the city, it is remarkable to find some stunningly beautiful architecture that has been so well preserved.

One of the newest additions to the city is the Four Seasons Hotel Lion Palace, St Petersburg. With 183 rooms it is housed in a former royal apartment guarded by two marble lions. It offers rooms overlooking either Saint Isaac’s Cathedral, the Aleksandrovsky Garden or the landmark, Admiralty and as Four Seasons preferred partners, we are pleased to be able to offer complimentary breakfast, spa credit and room upgrades where available.

British Airways offers daily direct flights from London Heathrow to St Petersburg and Moscow making this an ideal weekend getaway. Contact us on 0207 434 2255 to put together the perfect getaway.

The glamour of days gone by in Florence with a relaxed and modern approach

G&T have recently returned from a trip to Florence, staying at the historic Il Salviatino Hotel. Set in the hills of Florence and away from the bustle of the tourists, the 15th century villa has been beautifully renovated to provide some of the most spacious rooms in the city. The hotel’s management have combined luxury with a ‘can-do’ attitude meaning meals where you want, whenever you want! Whilst this can be a surprise at first, the hotel’s ambassadors soon put you at ease and anticipate your every whim. With just 45 rooms there is a sense of intimacy that you just can’t find in every luxury hotel.

A visit to Florence is a must for anyone wanting a weekend away with good food and wine. The hotel is just a 20 minute drive from the Duomo and Uffizi gallery as well as the airport, making it ideal for families needing entertaining or couples on a romantic getaway.

Florence is an all year round destination with particularly good weather in the spring through to early autumn. The summer months often host operatic events such as the Puccini festival in nearby Torre del Lago, or the feast of San Lorenzo, a Florentine spectacular held on the 10th August annually.

Mexico's hottest new resort

Capella Pedregal, a dramatic, 66-room Cliffside and Beachside Resort and Spa, opened in Cabo San Lucas in July 2009.

With a stunning location in a secluded cliffside setting where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez, the Capella Pedregal affords a highly personal service, beautifully designed rooms, fine dining and a 12,000 foot state of the art spa. Each guestroom, regardless of size, boasts a private plunge pool and one-of-a-kind ocean views.

The resort is within walking distance of the town’s marina, yet Pedregal feels as secluded as any exclusive Los Cabos hotel. The only way to access the 24-acre property by car is through a private tunnel the developers carved through the mountain that divides this part of the Pacific Coast from downtown Cabo.
